A new dining experience inspired by the great railway journeys of India has arrived beneath the arches at Battersea Power Station.
There is something wonderfully nostalgic about the railway journeys of India in the 1940s and 50s. The calls of platform vendors as trains pulled into stations, snacks passed through carriage windows, food piled onto railway trolleys and the anticipation of discovering what might be waiting at the next stop.
It is this golden age of railway travel that inspired Under the Arches: The Battersea Line Experience, our new menu at Cinnamon Kitchen Battersea.
Set, rather fittingly, beneath the historic railway arches beside Battersea Power Station, the experience takes guests on a culinary journey through India, with each stage of the menu drawing inspiration from the people, places and food that once made railway travel an experience in itself.
A Railway Journey, Told Through Food
Food has always been an important part of travelling by train in India. From vendors appearing on station platforms with local specialities to snacks carried through carriages on railway trolleys, every stop could bring with it something new to eat.
Our Under the Arches menu takes that idea and turns it into a dining experience.
Across the journey, dishes take their cues from platform shops, railway trolleys, station vendors and the carts that have fed generations of travellers, reimagined through the contemporary Indian cooking Cinnamon Kitchen is known for.

The journey begins at The Waiting Room, before moving through a series of stops and dishes inspired by railway life.
Expect playful references throughout the menu, including The Power Station Spiced Brick, our crisp potato with sweet pea and courgette, alongside dishes influenced by the snacks, meals and flavours associated with travelling across India.
British heritage and India’s long relationship with the railways run through the experience, while influences from coastal trade routes add another layer to the story. All of it is brought together with the spice-led, modern Indian approach that has defined Cinnamon Kitchen since its beginnings.
